First auction of Kilchoman Casks finished
Today ended the 1st part of the auction of casks of Kilchoman New Make, which had started on May 28 (we reported).
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Kilchoman distillery – which was officially opened at Fèis Ìle 2005 – a total of 15 casks of Kilchoman New Make will be auctioned in 3 tranches of 5 casks each. Interested parties were able to bid on the casks for the first time since 28 May until 11 June today.
The first 5 casks achieved the following highest bids:
- Bourbon Barrel: £12.000.
- Oloroso Sherry Hogshead: £12.500
- Madeira Hogshead: £11.911
- Port Hogshead: £11.700
- STR Hogshead: £10.900
Following the Private Cask Programme in 2005-2007, which was primarily designed to create urgently needed cash flow for the distillery’s ongoing operations, the anniversary year will be the first time again that private individuals will be offered the opportunity to purchase their own Kilchoman cask. Two further auctions with 5 more casks each will take place in the course of the year.
