Kilchoman Fino Sherry Matured Edition announced

Kilchoman Distillery today announced the release of its fourth and final Limited Edition of 2020, a Fino Sherry Matured release. This is expected to be available from retailers worldwide as early as this week and will also be sold in limited quantities from the distillery’s online shop from 14 October for £74.52.

Following the Port, Madeira, Sauternes, Red Wine and STR Cask editions of recent years, this is the first time Kilchoman has presented a Fino Sherry full maturation, previously there has only been a Fino Sherry finish once as a special edition for Fèis Ìle 2014. The interest of Kilchoman fans in the new bottling should be correspondingly great!
The release is a vatting of 12 Fino Sherry butts filled in 2014 and 2016 (11 first-filled and one refill butt) from Bodega Miguel Martin, from which Kilchoman also sources all its Oloroso Sherry casks, as is well known.

Compared to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, Fino is a drier and more saline type of sherry, the casks, according to the distillery, give the Kilchoman whisky additional layers of fragrant green apple, balancing beautifully with the typical Kilchoman citrus sweetnes, cooked fruits and maritime peat smoke.

The alcohol content of the bottling is 46.0 %, the edition limited to just 10.500 bottles worldwide.
