More new Kilchoman Releases for Whisky.de
After the largest German whisky retailer Whisky.de had already released two exclusive Kilchoman bottlings in December 2020, the next two follow: a Port Quarter Cask Finish and another Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting .
Finishings in small Portwine quarter casks have been one of the Kilchoman novelties of 2020. First launched in the 2nd half of 2020, only around half a dozen of these bottlings have appeared worldwide to date. Due to the small number of around 140 bottles per release, these bottlings are always sold out very quickly. This also applied to the first Port Quarter Cask Finish Edition for the German market, which was released at the end of 2020 within the Uniquely Islay series.
All these releases have in common that they are initially matured in a bourbon barrel for about 7 years, the contents of which are then decanted into 2 Ruby Port Quarter Casks and finished in these for several months.
The Whisky.de Release is the bottling of the Quarter Cask No. 1971/2013, i.e. the 2nd half of the Bourbon Barrel No. 197/2013, in which the whisky was allowed to mature for just under 7 years before being finished for 8 months in the Ruby Port Quarter Cask for 8 month. Whisky.de is selling the 146 bottles for 108.50 euros exclusively in its Whisky.de Club.
At the same time, Whisky.de released their second Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting. Following the 87.5% bourbon and 12.5% oloroso sherry cask variant in December 2020, the new edition has a ratio of 85% bourbon and 15% oloroso sherry. The bottles cost 49.90 €.
