Comraich Batch No. 7 released
The latest Comraich release has been available in the first Comraich bars (an overview can be found here) for a few days now. Batch No. 7 of the special bottlings for the bars of the same name, which can only be tasted there and are not available in stores, is an 8-year-old 100% Islay release, i.e. one of the slightly lighter peated whiskies produced ‘from barley to bottle’ entirely at Kilchoman, which establish Kilchoman’s self-image as Islay’s farm distillery.
Unusually for a Comraich release, there is no other information on the bottle, such as cask numbers, distillation and bottling dates etc. Not even the type of cask is stated. According to our information, this is a larger batch of bourbon barrels from 2016, which were bottled on 16 August 2024 and diluted down to a drinking strength of 48% abv.
After our first tasting impressions, we can only recommend every Kilchoman fan to visit their nearest Comraich Bar again. There we would recommend comparing Batch No. 7 with the latest 100% Islay Limited Release, which is almost the same age but contains a small proportion of 10% whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks.
