Further Kilchoman Single Cask Bottlings announced for the USA
At the end of April, we reported on five new Kilchoman single cask bottlings that had been announced for 2024 in the USA. Now three more have already been advertised. Sam Filmus and his team at US importer ImpEx Beverages have been very busy again!
ImpEx Beverages is continuing its renowned Cask Evolution series with a 100% Islay release. No. 03/2024 is a whisky distilled in 2014 from farm-own barley and produced entirely “from barley to bottle” at Kilchoman, which was matured for nine and a half years in an ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel.
Another 100% Islay release was bottled for the well-known Bar Agricole in San Francisco. Here, the whisky was matured for seven and a half years in an ex-bourbon barrel from Buffalo Trace.
The oldest of the three new bottlings, at thirteen and a half years, is to be released by Binny´s Beverage Depot, the largest wine, beer and spirits supermarket chain in the Midwest of the USA, founded in 1948.
Incidentally, the Bourbon Barrel No. 480/2010 bottled for this is a sister cask to the casks 478/2010 and 479/2010 recently released in Germany as part of the “Sister Casks Series”, and the casks 652/2014 (Cask Evolution 03/2024) and 635/2008 (Cask Evolution 01/2024) are also sister casks to the other two pairs of casks bottled for the “Sister Casks Series” (650/2014 & 653/2014 and 633/2008 & 639/2008 respectively). The bottlings for Germany and the USA therefore go hand in hand here and anyone who is lucky enough to be able to purchase Kilchoman bottles on both sides of the Atlantic will have further exciting opportunities to compare casks filled on the same day and matured for the same length of time.
