In the summer of 2023, the German Kilchoman importer Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft Bremen released An Samhradh 2023, already the sixth Uniquely Islay series with ten different bottlings.
This is number 2 of this series. The bottling is the world’s first Kilchoman finishing of 100% Islay Spirit in Armagnac casks.
Kilchoman usually fills its 100% Islay whisky, which is distilled from the farm’s own barley, predominantly in bourbon barrels and also in oloroso sherry casks. Other types of casks are very rarely found here.

Distilled from 100% Islay malt, the whisky was initially matured for just over 6 years in two ex-bourbon barrels and was decanted into a 400 litre Armagnac cask on 7 November 2020 and finished in this for 31 months.
