The Japanese Kilchoman importer, Whisk-e Ltd, Japan, released this Kilchoman single cask bottling at the beginning of 2025. The whisky was matured for over 13 years in an ex-Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel. Almost exactly a year before, Whisk-e Ltd had released the sister cask 457/2011 – again a nice opportunity to compare the ongoing cask maturation.

At the Kilchoman Open Day during the Fèis Ìle 2024 on 30 May 2024, samples from this cask, which was still 12 years old at the time, were included in both the masterclass with Anthony Wills ‘Founder’s Cask Exploration’ and the Kilchoman online tasting with Emma McHarrie & James Wills ‘The Impact of Peat: From Unpeated to Heavily Peated’ as an example of a heavily peated Kilchoman with 50ppm Phenols.
