Kilchoman China Small Batch No. 3 announced
The Chinese Kilchoman importer SMCC (Single Malt Club China) announced today the release of the “China Small Batch No. 3”.
The basis of the whiskies of the series of Small Batch Releases for Selected Markets launched in 2019, with which Kilchoman aims to showcase its experimental side, is an already finished Machir Bay vatting or Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting, i.e. a whisky with 46% alcohol strength, which was previously matured for approx. 5 years predominantly in bourbon casks and 5-15% in oloroso sherry casks. This vatting is then married with an additional special cask. With the usual small batch editions of about 1,260 bottles, this is literally exactly one cask in the vatting. For the high editions of the China Small Batches, two casks are necessary in each case.
In the case of “China Small Batch No. 3”, these are Calvados casks. The proportions are given as 70% Bourbon, 5% Oloroso Sherry and 20% Calvados.
