On the occasion of the distillery’s tenth anniversary in 2015, Kilchoman again launched a roadshow, as it did in 2014. Peter and James Wills, the sons of founder and managing director Anthony Wills, toured Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Denmark and Sweden for four weeks in September and October in a Kilchoman Land Rover, presenting the distillery’s entire range. The exclusive tour bottling available on the tour was the cask strength “Machir Bay” listed here.
For the European Tour 2014 and the subsequent UK Land Rover Tour 2014, Kilchoman had bottled Machir Bay batches at cask strength for the first time as exclusive tour bottlings. These bottlings were a great success with Kilchoman fans, showing the well-known standard release undiluted with an even more pronounced fruitiness. In the following years, it became a nice tradition to bring out a Machir Bay Cask Strength edition for the Kilchoman marketing tours.
Kilchoman only deviated from this tradition for the 2023 European Tour. After Kilchoman had released two larger Machir Cask Strength Limited Editions in 2020 and 2022, they now wanted to offer the fans something new and decided on a vatting from bourbon and port casks.
