Kilchoman Sanaig Àrd for Sweden announced

The state-owned monopoly retailer Systembolaget has announced a new exclusive Kilchoman bottling for Sweden, Kilchoman Sanaig Àrd.

This is scheduled for release on 1 March 2025 and differs from the ‘normal’ Sanaig bottlings in that it has a higher alcohol content of 50% abv (instead of 46%). This also explains the name: Árd means ‘high’ in Gaelic. The cask influence of 70% Oloroso Sherry and 30% Bourbon is the same for both bottlings.

The release was already bottled in November 2024, so in retrospect one can speak of a “Sanaig autumn” at Kilchoman. After the Sanaig Cask Strength Limited Release in October, which finally presented Kilchoman fans with the last of the three General Releases at cask strength, and the Sanaig Private Vattings for Germany and Poland, which were also released in autumn 2024 and had a higher bourbon cask content (40%), we now have another opportunity to get to know one of the distillery’s flagship whiskies in a new variation.
