New Kilchoman Cask Offer for Club Members

Kilchoman announced today that after a long time it will once again be offering a limited number of private casks exclusively for Kilchoman Club members through a ballot system which opened on Wednesday 21st August and closes at midday on Tuesday 3rd September.

In the early years of the distillery, Kilchoman sold numerous freshly filled casks to private individuals to raise much-needed capital for the distillery’s operations. This private cask programme was discontinued in 2007, and Kilchoman even endeavoured to buy back as many of these casks as possible in the following years in order to replenish the small stock of casks from the early years.

With the exception of 15 casks, which were auctioned off in 2020 to celebrate the distillery’s 15th anniversary, no further casks have been sold to private individuals to date. The significant increase in production capacity following the expansion of the distillery in 2019, combined with the upcoming financial challenges (keyword: building an own commercial malting facility), has now led to the decision to offer club members the opportunity to purchase their own Kilchoman cask!

These are a limited number of 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels that have been filled in recent months with the heavily peated 50 ppm spirit that also forms the basis for the Machir Bay and Sanaig bottlings.

Priced at £5,250 per cask, the casks will be given away in a ballot. Between 21 August and 3 September at noon, you can register as a prospective buyer by leaving a deposit of £100. Winners will be drawn at random and all entrants will receive an email within 48 hours confirming whether or not they have been successful.
