This Distillery Shop Exclusive Release bottled in November 2017 was sold in June 2018 (!) at the Kilchoman Visitor Centre.
The whisky was matured for over 11 years in a bourbon barrel.

Tasting Notes:

Archer:

Nose:
Restrained smoke, fresh herbs, vanilla, honey: on the nose, it presents itself exactly as you would expect from an 11-year-old Kilchoman from an ex-bourbon cask. A relaxed, unagitated and at the same time extremely inviting nose. Toffee, marzipan bread, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper. 88

Taste:
Soft and creamy start with mild smoke, lemon juice and (interestingly) Christmas spices: cinnamon, coriander, cloves. Plus a pinch of black pepper that brings pleasant spiciness. Caramel candy, latte, slightly tart woody notes, which do not dispel the creaminess. 89

Finish:
Medium length and slightly dry. Still creamy, even if the dryness has increased somewhat in the finish. Fine herbs, autumn leaves, pepper, cinnamon, lemon juice. 88

And again it shows how good around 10-year-old Kilchoman from the ex-bourbon cask can be. Here, the distillery style is played with without covering it up – and with its comparatively mild 51.2%, it is a little tongue-pleaser. 88/100 points
