As the 4th edition of its Cask Evolution series, the US importer ImpEx released this single cask in spring 2017. The whisky, distilled from farm-grown barley (100% Islay), was first matured for just over 4 years in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel and was then decanted into an Oloroso sherry hogshead on 21 December 2015 and finished in this for 15 months.

The sister casks in the warehouse in June 2017. Cask no. 721/2011 has already been bottled by then.

As is so often the case with Kilchoman single cask bottlings, cask 714/2011 is one of a series of sister casks (here: Casks No. 714/2011 – 721/2011 with Oloroso Sherry finishes from 8 to 45 months; see: Kilchomania database), which have been bottled for various markets worldwide and allow Kilchoman friends to make interesting comparisons if they manage to acquire the bottlings from the various countries.
