Triskele Casks French Exclusive No. 1 & 2: two new Small Batch Releases for France released
On the occasion of the Islay Festival Fèis Ìle, the well-known French whisky merchant La Maison du Whisky, which is also the Kilchoman importer for France, has once again released an exclusive range of whiskies from the famous island under the name Islay Selection.
Among them are two new Kilchoman Small Batch releases for France. As with two announced bottlings for the US market, these were called Triskele Casks. The Celtic symbol of the triskele, which, as is well known, adorns every Kilchoman bottle as a logo, symbolises, among other things, the unity of three elements. As a name for Kilchoman’s small batch releases, which consist of three different cask types that together form a new unit, it is certainly not a bad choice.
The basis of the whiskies in the series of Small Batch Releases for Selected Markets, which began in 2019, is an already finished Machir Bay vatting or Machir Bay Collaborative Vatting, i.e. a whisky with 46% alcohol strength, which was previously matured for approx. 5 years predominantly in bourbon barrels and 5-15% in oloroso sherry casks. This vatting is then married with an additional special cask.
Under the name French Inspiration #1 and #2, LMDW had released two small batch releases a year ago, which were intended to show the French influence on Kilchoman whisky with an additional Calvados and a Sauternes wine cask. This year’s two Triskele Casks are now dedicated to the Portuguese side with an STR and a Port cask.
The bottles are available online at La Maison du Whisky for 92.00 euros each.
