Kilchoman Fèis Ìle 2023 Release

Für die Fèis Ìle-Sonderabfüllung des Jahres 2023 wählte Anthony Wills drei Fässern aus: zwei zehnjährige Bourbon Barrels und ein elf Jahre altes Sherrybutt und verheiratete sie miteinander. Destilliert wurde der Whisky in den Jahren 2012 und 2013 aus Publican-Gerste, die in den Jahren 2011 und 2012 auf Kilchomans eigenen Feldern angebaut wurde. Die Gerste wurde dann vor Ort gemälzt, destilliert, gereift und abgefüllt, es handelt sich also um einen 100% Islay-Kilchoman Whisky.
Die 1159 Flaschen wurden, limitiert auf eine Flasche pro Person, für £115 erstmals am Kilchoman Open Day, dem 1.6.2023 an die Besucher verkauft und waren danach noch einige Wochen im Besucherzentrum der Destillerie erhältlich.

Anthony Wills schrieb dazu: “Selecting casks for our annual Fèis Ìle release is the highlight of my year.  I’ve always enjoyed the balance of character achieved by combining both bourbon and sherry casks, the bourbon barrels enhance and exhibit the character of the Kilchoman spirit whilst the sherry butt adds layers of richness and complexity.  The result is a beautifully balanced example of Kilchoman Single Farm Single Malt, a credit to the hard work of all the team, both on the farm and in the distillery.”
